I saw this quote on one of my calendars from when I was in high school, and it’s stuck with me ever since (and that’s a looooooong time!)

There’s so much truth to it because when we worry about tomorrow, it robs us of the joy we could experience today.

And who wants to spend all their time anticipating something that may or may not even happen?

Well, to be honest, I was one of those people who would spend my today creating all the worst case scenarios of my tomorrow in my mind.

And then I’d freak myself out about “OMG what if it actually DID happen?!” Oh and here comes the spiral.

I don’t know about you, but it was easy for me to fall in, getting hooked on every possible danger of these fantasies becoming realities. And they never seemed to have a good outcome either.

I was always feeling angry about the outcomes, mainly due to the lens I was looking through at the time. I felt like the world was against me.

I couldn’t catch a break. The world was out to get me. “I’m destined for doom. Guess that’s just the way it is.”

But what did all that worrying do?

It took me out of being present. It ruined my days and nights, weeks, months, and years. It robbed me of the happiness I was so desperately looking for.

It also made me so not fun to be around.

It wasn’t until I realized I could have control of mind that things started to change. I finally began to acknowledge that I DIDN’T have control over some things, and that’s ok. It was time to let the control freak side of me go.

I adopted the mantra: I can not control what other people think, say, do, feel, or believe.

This helped me release my anxiety about my tomorrows. It allowed me room to breathe and accept that I can’t control things.

And I actually felt better BECAUSE I accepted the fact things we out of my hands.

I learnt to trust that whatever was happening was ok. I learned to look for the message within the mess. I acknowledged and began to love the part of myself that always needed to worry about outcomes.

And best of all, I discovered the present moment. And I mean REALLY discovered. I was IN it.

And life’s been pretty amazing ever since.

Now, I have the ability to help others do the same and have a way for you to experience all the joy you want in life. If you’d like to know more, let me know in the comments or shoot me a note at Katie@FeelYourLight.com

I hope you have an amazing day today 💙🕉
