Sometimes life doesn’t go the way we want it to. Yet, it always goes the way it’s supposed to. It’s easier than you think to find creative solutions for the times things don’t go as planned.
When things change — event plans, the relationship, someone changes their mind, the weather kicks up — and what you thought was going to happen now isn’t, there are two choices given in the moment: play the victim or be your own hero.
Usually the first reaction when something doesn’t go our way (for example our psychic fair having to be rescheduled due to weather this past weekend) is to play the victim. Thoughts like Why is this happening to me? What am I supposed to do now? All this work, time, and effort is wasted! are keeping you feeling like the situation is completely out of your control. Some might even throw their hand up and say oh well and walk away.
This mentality also brings with it feelings of inadequacy, fear, doubt, worry, and many others, but the point being is that it doesn’t feel so great to hang out in this space. It can feel as if the world is out to get you because “bad things keep happening”, or you might even start to believe that what you want isn’t meant for you due to all the obstacles that keep being put in your way.
But in Reality with a capital “R”, these little roadblocks and “annoyances” are there for you to use as fuel and a springboard to your next destination. These events and occurrences are here to help us grow, gain new awareness, and use creative solutions so we become our own hero, not because the universe thinks we should fail.
Oh, no, quite on the contraire. There’s no such thing as failure, only feedback. These things specifically get put in our way so we may be guided to something better. It doesn’t always feel like that at the time, but this opportunity to pivot could be the very thing you’ve been waiting for, as any time we get to course correct, valuable information is revealed as we generally are required to step out of our comfort zones.
Pivot, turn, walk, walk, walk
So, if you’re planning on something happening a specific way, and then BAM, all of a sudden things change, being secure enough in the essence of your desire will allow you to find a way to make it work. Sometimes it’s as easy as a date change (our new date for the Psychic Fair is Sunday, March 6th), other times there’s a way to move online (this was my choice when I heard we rescheduled), or even create something new and better (this was a surprise by-product for me because of client request!).
When you keep an open mind about how something can happen, even more possibilities can come into your awareness (after all, the how isn’t up to you). Reframing your energetic focus is all you need, let the universe do the rest. This is what I mean:
For me to have made my monetary goal at the fair, I would have had to do 22-24 back to back 15 minute readings and have sold some add-ons like classes and future sessions. And if you’re a reader, you know that’s a LOT! But, we do it, and I always have a good time getting to meet and help so many people. At the end of the day it’s a rewarding (yet enhausting) experience.
Instead of trying to hustle and reach out and get 25 people to get a 15 minute reading with me that day, I offered longer services at my discounted Fair prices via zoom. I didn’t have to work hard, I started with my goal in mind, stated to the universe that it was going to happen, and we needed to work together to bring in the right people who needed my help that day.
By holding onto the essence of my desire (the money I needed to make to pay some overdue bills) and believing it was still possible (keeping an open mind and lots of faith that people would take me up on my offers) while releasing the “need” (that feeling of OMG the bills are DUE!!!) I was able to manifest just what I asked for. 6 sessions and a few bookings for my classes and events. Same amount of money (maybe more) and much less work.
What I needed came to me in a way that I did not expect. And that’s the key here — the universe will always provide you with an answer, although it’s usually one you never considered, or possibly one you don’t want (but need) to hear. You will always be guided to your highest truth, but it’s up to you if you want to listen (you know, free will and all). I’m glad I still decided to work since I had blocked off that time anyway, because it was just as easy to pull the covers up and go back to bed and still be freaking out about the bills. (I don’t need that stress).
Creative Solution Based Thinking
The moral of the story is that when something thwarts your oh-so-carefully laid out plans, have your pity party and freak out for a hot minute, then get moving and throw the proverbial spaghetti at the wall and see what sticks. Get creative, audacious, and birth something new into the world. Often our greatest masterpieces come from a fork in the road we didn’t see coming.
And if you’re thinking “Oh, but I put so much work into this, I need it to happen this way”, don’t discount all the time and effort you so lovingly gave to your creation. Sink into all that hard work and ask for a way for it all to still be used for something even better than you could ever imagine.
Remember, the universe is sneaky. What’s meant for you will always come, and what’s not meant for you will be removed from your path. A lot of times when something doesn’t work out it’s because it’s not meant to at that point in time and space. Now, that’s not to say it will never happen, it just means that what you wanted wasn’t meant for you in that moment. Usually, it’s because something better is on the way, but we have to acknowledge there needs to be a redirect and loosen our grip on wanting things to happen in a particular order for it to come in.
Acceptance of what is, and a willingness to move forward in a different way is what fosters our ability to grow. In doing so, we allow new possibilities to become visible, create deeper neurological pathways that strengthen our confidence and courage, and give us the opportunity to step into our higher self.
What was something you did lately that was a result of having to change things around at the last minute? How did it work out for you? What did you notice about yourself afterwards?
Feel free to reply and let me know! I love to celebrate your wins with you.
